Lecturer Tang Tri Trong: Formula to maximize staff capacity & retain talent

In the afternoon of August 14, 2019, the Dat Xanh Mien Trung employees and member companies had an intimate conversation with Lecturer Tang Tri Trong - Senior Business Director of Vietnamwork with more than 20 years of experience in HR development. At the talk, Mr. Tang Tri Trong gave the very practical shares on how to maximize the capacity of employees, the key factors in recruiting and retaining talents.

At the beginning of the talk, Mr. Nguyen The Anh - Human Resources Director of Dat Xanh Mien Trung had concerns about how do enterprises to reserve human resources while the business market is quiet as well as the attraction of talents to join enterprise within the permitted budget. Answering on this issue, Mr. Tang Tri Trong pointed out the main points that need to be noted for a business when recruiting is to fully determine the strengths owned by its enterprise or organization but not by its rivals, to build a questionnaire to prepare for the interview process and provoke dissatisfaction with employees in order to create strong attraction so that the talented people join their enterprise.
 
Mr. Trong emphasized that the issue of salary and benefits for an employee is not the first key point of a person in deciding whether to work for an enterprise or not. Meanwhile, factors such as corporate culture, promotion road, training route, and adequate skills training are the key factors in deciding whether an employee decides to join and stay with this enterprise. In particular, corporate culture is the way to run the employees. A good corporate culture helps employees become more attached to the company, and also helps them to receive, enlighten, and love the profession.
 
In the process of training and developing people, Mr. Trong shared “If giving employees a fish, they only live one day. Giving employees the fishing rod, they will live all their lives.” This is a very good philosophy of the trainers and mentors because giving them a “fishing rod”is giving them knowledge, skills and tools to complete the work themselves, help them increase confidence in work and self-respect in life.
 
The HR training is often applied principle of 333 by Mr. Trong. Within 3 days, the staff must write down the 3 most favorable things to apply in 3 months and take regular acceptance weekly according to the “before & after” model. From there, select the potential factors with good qualities, the need to share knowledge for the company's personnel. These people should be recognized & well- invested.

Sharing more about how to promote and grasp the needs of employees, creating a dynamic environment, developing, recognizing and rewarding appropriately, lecturer Tang Tri Trong thinks that a leader must understand the needs and expectation of the employees to find the right motivation method to help employees work as efficiently as possible. Understanding these needs, in addition to welfare regimes and policies, leaders need to create conditions for employees to capture information, create opportunities for them to contribute ideas and participate in planning strategies of departments and organizations.
 
The recognition and deserved reward of leaders and organizations for employees is one of the important factors to encourage them to continue trying and promoting their full potential. Depending on the degree of performance and the outcome of the work, the recognition may be a material or spiritual reward. A certificate of merit, a public recognition, or simply a handshake from the leader will also become a motivation for employees to continue trying and achieving higher achievements.
